Don't Wait - Dental Emergencies Need Prompt Attention
A sudden toothache, a broken tooth, or a lost crown can be frightening and painful. Many patients aren’t sure whether what they’re experiencing truly qualifies as a dental emergency — and that uncertainty can lead to delays that make things worse. At Olde Town Dentistry, we want you to know: if something doesn’t feel right, call us. Dr. Hunter Cross and our caring team will help assess your situation and guide you on the best next step. We treat every patient like family, and that means being here when it matters most.
Common Dental Emergencies We Care For
Severe Toothache
Persistent or throbbing tooth pain that doesn’t improve may signal an infection or deeper issue that needs to be evaluated right away.
Broken or Chipped Tooth
A fracture from a fall, an accident, or biting something hard can expose sensitive inner tooth structures and requires prompt care.
Lost or Knocked-Out Tooth
Time is critical. If a tooth has been knocked out, call us immediately and keep the tooth moist while you’re on your way to our office.
Lost Filling or Crown
When a filling or crown falls out, the affected tooth becomes vulnerable to pain, sensitivity, and further damage.
Dental Abscess or Infection
Swelling, fever, or a painful bump near a tooth or gums can indicate a serious infection that should never be ignored.
Soft Tissue Injuries
Cuts or injuries to the lips, cheeks, gums, or tongue that don’t stop bleeding may require immediate attention.
Broken or Ill-Fitting Dentures
A broken or uncomfortable denture can significantly impact eating, speaking, and daily comfort. We’re here to help.
Not sure if your situation is an emergency? Call us anyway – (470) 570-1431.

What To Do Before You Reach Our Office
While you’re on your way to see us, there are a few simple steps you can take to manage discomfort and protect your tooth. For a toothache, rinse with warm salt water and take over-the-counter pain relief if needed. For a broken tooth, rinse gently and apply light pressure with a clean cloth if there is bleeding. If a filling or crown has fallen out, keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side until we can see you.
For a knocked-out tooth, handle it by the crown — not the root — rinse it gently, and try to keep it moist by placing it in milk or between your cheek and gum. If you notice swelling or signs of infection, apply a cold compress to the outside of your face and seek care promptly. And remember — if you are experiencing difficulty breathing or swallowing, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
